What do I know about cybersafety? Cybersafety is about keeping your account passwords to yourself and be safe about everything on the internet. Have I presented material about cybersafety before? No. I haven’t done anything about this subject before except discussing it in Social Studies Do I understand what I have to do? Is there anything I don’t understand about this activity? I need to do a poster about cybersafety to warn people about keeping themselves safe on the internet. What skills and knowledge will I be using? We will be using clear cutting, fuzzy select in GIMP and the knowledge that our teachers teach us.
Identify What is the task?
What do I want to accomplish in creating a poster? How do I want to interest others in my topic? Do I want to present an informative poster that can be used as a reference? Do I want to present a warning poster that alerts people to danger? Or some combination of those goals? I want to convince other people to keep their passwords to themselves. I want to make colour contrast and interesting pictures to interest others. No, I don’t want to create a formative poster, because I want to keep it nice and simple and it’s easy for people to understand. Kind of, I kind of do want to warn people to keep their passwords to themselves but not so much of danger. What do I need in order to do this? What materials do I have? What resources do I need? Should I do more research on cybersafety? I need interesting pictures to interest others and GIMP to help me put the poster together. I have a camera to take pictures, at the moment I don’t need any resources. My theme is really straight ward so I don’t I will need to research anymore. Who will be looking at this work? How can I appeal to other students? Anyone can look at this work because anyone can have passwords. I will appeal other students by putting cool things in the poster. Are there examples of cybersafety posters or materials that I can look at? Yes there were some examples of cybersafety posters, Ms Beadle showed the class some and there were some on the classroom wall. What are the obstacles? What problems may happen? The obstacle is that I make sure I know the skills in GIMP. The short of time maybe a problem. Can I draw a diagram that will help me to visualise my work? Draw some rough ideas for posters. -Pic of my two little cousins warning about passwords -Frosty filters as title -Pics about passwords
Generate How many ideas can I think of?
List as many ideas as possible. What aspects of cybersafety interest me? What would I want to see on a poster? Cybersafety interest me by how people cyberbully; how mean they do things. I would want to see on a poster title, idea, and pictures to help understanding. Consider the advantages and disadvantages of each idea. Are there any other subjects to consider? What resources (books, websites, etc.) have I been provided with? I have been provided in class tutorials about GIMP, a teacher to help us and allowing us to go on the internet. What do other people think about this? Do others think I have a good idea? I’m not really sure how other people think about this but I think it’s a good idea to make posters to warn people about cybersafety. Others think I have a good idea about having a motto as a title.
Decide Which is the best idea?
Which are the best ideas? Prioritise the 3-5 best ideas. -Pic of my cousins warning about passwords (it includes a bit of humour) -My frosty filter title -My computer with a lock and the caption under it Explain your reasons for choosing these. What are the arguments for and against each idea? I chose these because they are cool looking and eye catching. There are no for and against about these ideas yet. What is my plan? What are the steps to follow? My plan is to: ·Get pictures ·Start my title with filters frosty ·Take pictures and edit them ·Put my pictures on ·Arrange them so that they fit together ·Do any last changes
Part Two – Implementing and Evaluating
TASC Process
Questions to consider
Implement Let’s do it!
Am I making progress through the plan? Yes, I just need to put on the final pictures. Am I doing this correctly? You may need to review your goal for this activity. Yes, I’m doing this correctly following my plan.
Do I need to revise my plan? As you continue, you may discover facts that require changing the plan. Not yet I need to change my plan.
Am I satisfied with the text/graphics/pictures that I have created? So far I’m alright with my work.
Evaluate How well did I do?
Did I complete the task as originally set out? Did I solve the problem? Yes, I spent a few minutes every day and I manage to finish the poster Is the text as interesting or informative as intended? Yes, the text of my poster are quite interesting Are the graphics and images appealing? the images are okay, they’re not too appealing but they’re not boring What have I done? I did a filtered title, images relating to topic, and some text about the topic What have I done really well? Is there anything that stands out as particularly good? I think my filtered title was really cool Is there anything that needs improvement? Should I go back and redo anything? Yet I don’t need to redo anything Am I ready to communicate my ideas or show/display my work to others? Is the poster ready to be shown to others? Yes, it is ready
Communicate Let’s tell someone!
Who can I tell? Who is my audience? My audience are everyone who has a password What is the best way to present this to my audience? The best way to present this is making a poster so it’s clear for audience to understand How do I interest other students in my particular subject? Having more colour and images might interest others Did I include the right text/graphics/images to inform and appeal to other students? Yes, I think I have included
Learn from experience What have I learned?
If I had to start this activity all over again, how would I improve my performance? Would I change my work habits? Would I use a different subject or different design? Would I only make small changes? I would improve the use of space; I kind of ran out of space in this poster. If I do this again I would still keep the same theme and maybe different designs. If I do this again I would do it completely different set outs and images. How have I improved since that last time I worked on a similar task? My poster have been more interesting, cool, and detailed Have I learned anything about my subject or about appealing to others or about presenting information? I have learnt that we shouldn’t give out any personal info. to someone we don’t know on the internet. Can I use that elsewhere? Like in SST we can use this info. How has my thinking changed as a result of this work? I have changed to be more secure about going on the internet What skills have I learned and developed? I have learnt how to use GIMP and make posters Can these skills be applied to other subjects/activities? I could use these skills in subject posters e.g. English, SST What problems did I have to solve? Were there obstacles in developing ideas, researching material, or presenting the material? How were they overcome? I had to solve the problem of time in mind of that I have lots of activities after school so I had to organise my time wisely How did I use the strengths of others to help me? I used them in the poster and made my poster looked cool
